Bird Island Park

Bird Island Park will be more than your typical park or nature preserve. It will be a place of growth for our entire community.

When complete, the park will be an eco-interpretative trail with five areas for exploration, reading or meditation amidst vegetation native to our First Coast habitat. Indigenous plants will create the delicate ecosystems found in our upland hammocks, coastal dunes and freshwater marshes. Arbors, gazebos, benches, tables, and a storytelling area will provide space for small gatherings and educational presentations. Interactive artistic sculptures will enhance the visual pleasures of all who visit the park while giving children unique place to play. The intriguing turtle maze and the educational signage will inspire visitors to experience nature in a new way. And all of this will surround a bird rookery (commonly known as Bird Island) in the middle of the tranquil pond!
